Amen!

“Cursed is anyone who dishonors their father or mother.” Then all the people shall say, “Amen!” Deuteronomy 27:16

Can I get an, ‘Amen?’ One might say that to get the people to affirm what he/she has said. That is what ‘amen’ means. God wanted to make sure the people agreed, not just with the fun things he said, but also the difficult things. They are called to affirm all the commandments and more in verses 15-27 of this chapter. Jesus loves you – that sounds so sweet. He died because of your sin (and mine) and the curses we take on when we live in that sin. Can I get an, ‘Amen?’
