Understand, then, that it is not because of your righteousness that the Lord your God is giving you this good land to possess, for you are a stiff-necked people. Deuteronomy 9:6
Am I stiff-necked, refusing to change my ways to God’s? I like to think that I try to honor him in my life. Then I think of the attitudes and actions that have become part of me—and I realize how stubborn I am. Maybe I am the only one like that, who has those few idiosyncrasies’ I “refuse” to give up. Two things then come to mind: 1) God please forgive me and help me to give over to you every nook and cranny of my life, and 2) thank you for your grace that you have blessed me so much despite my failures. If you happen to have a bit of a “stiff-neck, you are welcome to join me in this confession and praise. Thank God for grace!
