Being a Dad

Isaiah 65, 66, 36, Ephesians 6:1-9

Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord. Ephesians 6:4

It is a challenge to be a good father. One cannot simply lay down the law and force obedience, yet it is the father’s job to teach discipline. I have learned this one thing about fatherhood. It is by my giving myself to growing closer to God by listening to Him and obeying Him, that I show my children what it is to be a Christian. I love my children, but I cannot make them do anything anymore as they are adults. I can show them my joy in walking with Jesus, though. And I can tell them there is nothing more important in their lives than to join me in that walk.

Father, help me to be a good dad. AMEN
