Danger of Distractions

Be careful to do what the Lord your God has commanded you; do not turn aside to the right or to the left. Deuteronomy 5:32

I don’t think most of us seek to dishonor God in our lives. I think we get distracted. We get caught up in the crowd and do what our friends do. We go out Saturday night and are too tired to worship on Sunday. We slide into the language and lifestyles of those around us. Then, when we stop and consider where we are, we feel such guilt that it is difficult to go back. Living to honor God requires intentional focus. Don’t “turn aside to the right or to the left.” As the writer of Hebrews put it, “let us fix our eyes on Jesus.” Have a great focused day! And remember—if you do get distracted, ask for forgiveness rather than live with the guilt. That is what Jesus is about!
