1 Corinthians 11-13, Proverbs 23
Listen, my son, and be wise, and set your heart on the right path: Do not join those who drink too much wine or gorge themselves on meat, for drunkards and gluttons become poor, and drowsiness clothes them in rags. Proverbs 23:19-21
This proverb makes me smile as everyone prepares for tomorrow’s feast. Perhaps it should not. We live in a wealthy country. And whether we stuff ourselves on turkey or Black Friday deals the result is the same: we forget what makes us truly rich. Keep your heart, and your eyes, “on the right path.” Look to the things that matter—which are really people. Remember that tomorrow when you sit around a table filled with food. Look at the people and give thanks. When we put too much stock in things we end up with nothing. Have a blessed Thanksgiving!
