Don't Be Scared-Unless You Oppose God

At that time I commanded Joshua: “You have seen with your own eyes all that the Lord your God has done to these two kings. The Lord will do the same to all the kingdoms over there where you are going. Do not be afraid of them; the Lord your God himself will fight for you.” Deuteronomy 3:21-22

In Deuteronomy chapter three God gave military victory to the Israelites over several kingdoms. Why? Why did he have them fight before they got to the Promised Land? 1) He did so for Joshua’s sake that Moses might bolster his confidence when he took over as the leader. 2) He did so to build up the confidence of the people prior to their entering the Promised Land. 3) He did so to cause the people then living in Canaan (Promised Land) to be terrified. (See Joshua 5:1.) God wants you to have confidence as you face the challenges of today. What sign has he given you that he will “fight for you?” Beside all the blessings he has already given you, look to the cross. There God fought for you in a battle that cost him dearly. You can trust him.
