Find Poor Person in this Picture

The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. Luke 4:18

The poor are to be our priority. When I say that what image comes to mind. Someone who is homeless? One on welfare? Is it a person who wears shabby clothes? These words are a quote Jesus uses for his first sermon and they are about him, but who does Jesus to see as the poor? I don’t think he looks at things exactly the same as we do. Jesus would include in this those who are scared, those who foolishly think they are rich because they have money and those who do not know him at all. Look around you today. Is there someone who needs to hear that you love them and so does Jesus. Tell them. Maybe that is you. Let me be the first to say to you today, “Jesus loves you!”
