Commission Joshua, and encourage and strengthen him, for he will lead this people across and will cause them to inherit the land that you will see. Deuteronomy 3:28
Moses had pleaded with God to let him enter the Promised Land, but God was firm and told him, “Do no speak to me anymore about this.” (vs.26) I wonder how it felt for Moses to train Joshua to lead the people into the land instead of himself. We are called to trust God for many things—even for who gets the glory. The glory of leading the Israelites into the Promised Land would not go to Moses. It would not even go to Joshua – it goes to God. God has a place for you in heaven; so will you live to give him the glory on earth? It is amazing how much we can accomplish when we stop worrying about who gets the credit!
