God's Reputation on the Line

The Lord will establish you as his holy people, as he promised you on oath, if you keep the commands of the Lord your God and walk in obedience to him. Then all the peoples on earth will see that you are called by the name of the Lord, and they will fear you. Deuteronomy 29:9-10

God not only loves to pour out blessing on you, he also has something at stake in this. The world sees God through you and me. God’s reputation is at stake. He wants all people in the world to come to see life in Jesus, so he wants others to see the blessing he brings to those who are the church. And yet, he is able to fully focus on you. He wants to bless you because he loves to see you enjoy his blessing. All that allure of sin—those are lies from Satan. So listen to God today, but don’t begin with thoughts of “following the rules” – begin at the cross remembering the price God paid so he might call you his own.
