If I've Said it Once . . .

Be careful to follow every command I am giving you today, so that you may live and increase and may enter and possess the land the Lord promised on oath to your ancestors. Deuteronomy 8:1

I thought I read this line before. I have, and in looking I see that Moses used this combination of words about God’s laws, follow and command, 21 times in Deuteronomy. So why does a teacher repeat something all the time? Because they know the students will easily forget and put that class rule aside. Do we need to hear this more? How are you doing at intentionally following (obeying) God’s commands? That means you need to study and reflect on them. I am going to take this day to reflect on that. If you cannot recite the 10 Commandments, that tells you something already. As Moses said, “Be careful.” You can re-read the 10 Commandments in Deu. 5:6-21 if you need to.
