In This Together -- With Jesus

2 Kings 19, Isaiah 39, 28, Matthew 1

She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins. Matthew 1:21

With Jesus everything changed and yet everything stayed the same. God’s people in the Old Testament were not safe because they obeyed God’s laws. They were safe because of God’s protection. And in reading this passage from Matthew I realize that while Jesus is my Savior (praise God), the faith is not some personal individualized thing. Jesus came to save ALL his people. In Isaiah and Kings the nation failed or was successful, but it was always about the nation. We are the church. Jesus has set you free from sin by his death and resurrection. BUT we are in this together—all of us. Live that way today. Let us live as community – not a bunch of individuals.
