Look/Listen to God

Isaiah 29-31, Matthew 2:1-15

Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, who rely on horses, who trust in the multitude of their chariots and in the great strength of their horsemen, but do not look to the Holy One of Israel, or seek help from the Lord. Isaiah 31:1

The more we change, the more we stay the same. When the people of God were threatened by Assyria they turned to Egypt to help them. Why? Because the prophets of God kept telling them they needed to repent of their sin and God would take care of them. Because they did not like what God was telling them they turned to another. The Egyptians helped them – then basically took over the nation. For all the times we ignore God, Jesus still came to help us. Look to him, and don’t get hurt when he tells you to face the ugliness inside of you. Face it, give it to him and let him change your life.
