See, the Lord your God has given you the land. Go up and take possession of it as the Lord, the God of your ancestors, told you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” Deuteronomy 1:21
When is a bird in the hand worth less than two in the bush? Give up? When God tells you the two birds in the bush are yours. I always think of Joshua when I hear the phrase, “do not be afraid, do not be discouraged.” God spoke these words to Moses as well—and to you and me. He invites us to live without fear. So what can you know is yours—simply because God has promised it to you? He has not promised land to you, but he has promised heaven. He has not promised that you won’t get sick, but he will always love you and protect you. He has promised to forgive you and to always be with you. Don’t be “afraid” or “discouraged.” God is with you. The cross and the empty tomb are how he signed and sealed his promises to you.
