2 Chronicles 32:24-e, Isaiah 34-35, Matthew 3
Strengthen the feeble hands, steady the knees that give way; say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you.” Isaiah 25:3-4
Isaiah shows God speaking harshly to his people (ch. 34) then holding out a promise that he will come to their rescue. One can easily be confused, but his message is not confusing—just honest. God calls us out in our sin forcing us to stop pretending that we don’t have a problem. He does so that we might be honest with him and ask for help. When we confess our sin, God is very quick to pour out his grace and forgive, heal and save us. We need God, but he cannot help us if we hide from him. Trust him – then come clean with him (and yourself).
