Purpose Over Comfort

When I could stand it no longer, I sent to find out about your faith. I was afraid that in some way the tempter had tempted you and that our labors might have been in vain. I Thessalonians 3:5

Paul was concerned for the Christians of Thessalonica – not because they were being persecuted, but because he was fearful their persecution might cause them to abandon their faith. Please make note of that. We live in an age where our temptation is to focus more on our comforts than on our faith. Stand with Jesus in your life. Work hard to grasp what that means. And while we thank God for the blessings of comfort and nice things—may we not hold so tightly to them that we neglect what God has called us to.
