Reminders--We All Need Them

Then Moses commanded them: “At the end of every seven years . . . . you shall read this law before them in their hearing. Assemble the people—men, women and children, and the foreigners residing in your towns—so they can listen and learn to fear the Lord your God and follow carefully all the words of this law. Deuteronomy 31:10-12

I wonder how long they did it – gathered all the people of the country together every seven years to read their entire Bible publicly to them? God wanted it read so the people would not forget and stray from the ways God had called for them to live because they forgot what it was to love God. I have appreciated reading through Deuteronomy these past few months as it has reminded me how easily I can drift away from what God says and do whatever I want. I need reminders that going my own way leads to destruction. God, speak to me, and guide me along the journey. Thanks for your promise to walk with me.
