Resolving Disputes

When people have a dispute, they are to take it to court and the judges will decide the case, acquitting the innocent and condemning the guilty. Deuteronomy 25:1

Deuteronomy is a book preparing the people for how to live as an independent nation. It would be nice if they were able to always get along, but that does not happen in a sinful world -- it still doesn’t. Because we are brothers and sisters in Christ, our first effort is to work things out. That involves forgiveness, not determination of right and wrong. God would have loved for his judges never to hear any cases. Unfortunately, they were probably busy as they are today.
