Rights & Responsibilities

Even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. Mark 10:45

We live in a free country. We have freedom, and that freedom gives us certain rights. I have the right to speak my mind, go where I please and protection from those who might seek to hurt me. But freedom also brings with it responsibility. Jesus sits at the top as Lord of the universe and yet he said that “even” he has responsibilities. In his freedom Jesus knows that to be our king he must take care of us – those he has set free. Jesus came to serve. Even more, he came to die on the cross to pay our “ransom.” Consider today, what your responsibilities are BECAUSE you are free.
