(Join me in reading Phil. 2:1-18 each day this week.)
If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Philippians 2:1-2
I am goal oriented. My focus tends to be on the task and not the journey. This is why I hated group projects in school. There was always someone in the group to drag us down. I would be concerned their ideas might differ from mine and make the end product less. I was foolish. God has shown me that I need to leave the end product to him so I might enjoy the journey. I still fight my old tendencies, but I know they are wrong. Paul’s joy is “made complete” by unity with fellow Christians. I continue to learn the joy of the journey with my brothers and sisters in Christ. One more thing I have learned—there are a lot of people with a lot better ideas than mine. Have a great day!
