Count off seven weeks from the time you begin to put the sickle to the standing grain. Then celebrate the Festival of Weeks to the Lord your God by giving a freewill offering in proportion to the blessings the Lord your God has given you. Deuteronomy 16:9-10
You know this festival as Pentecost coming 50 days after Passover. As Passover marked the beginning of the wheat harvest – Pentecost marked the end of it. They celebrated and returned to God an “offering in proportion to the blessings” of the harvest. At the festival they also celebrated how God had given them his Word, their Bible (Torah). It is good to consider all God has given us – and thank him. Take a moment to do that. We are blessed.
