The First Word

I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. Deuteronomy 5:6

I never tire of thinking how God gave the 10 “Commandments.” They are never called commandments, just “words” or “sayings.” And the first thing he said was that he had brought his people out of slavery as their God. It is a word of gospel, of powerful love. God’s first word to you is always how much he loves you. If you want one word, I would say that word is, “Jesus” or “cross.” Don’t skip God’s first word to focus on everything else he says. It is that first word that puts everything he says in perspective. Have a great day!
