The Joy of Christmas

Acts 24-25, Psalms 95-97

Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them; let all the trees of the forest sing for joy. Psalm 96:12

One of the great Christmas carols, Joy to the World, came from this Psalm. The powerful image to embrace is that of all creation rejoicing over Jesus. Whatever grows in the fields and “all the trees of the forest sing for joy.” The ones who often do the poorest job of praising God is that part of creation to which God has given a mouth and language, humans. Jesus has come to give us life. Perhaps you do not see that. Don’t let the things around you determine your attitude. Look up. Jesus is here for you. He wants to hold you in his arms and fill you with joy—from the inside out. Look inside of you—He has forgiven you and empowers you. Now look around you. I pray you see things differently. Jesus and you can handle whatever you face. It will be a good day. Joy to the world!
