The Joy of Friendship

For he longs for all of you and is distressed because you heard he was ill. Philippians 2:26

Paul is sending Epaphroditus, who almost died from some illness, to see the Philippians because everyone cares about everyone so much. This letter (Philippians) is called Paul’s book of joy. How is that? He is writing from prison – where’s the joy? I think I found it here. Paul is writing about caring for each other to a church of people who cares for him deeply. The joy comes from the bond they all had in Jesus. Is this where you find your joy? It is not in the things we do or have, but the people we call friends. In fact, they are more than my friends – YOU are my brothers and sisters in Christ. Praise God!
