The Next Generation

Timothy has proved himself, because as a son with his father he has served with me in the work of the gospel. Philippians 2:22

It was a part of culture then that is often lost on us. A father and his son would work together; father teaching the son a career. Children would watch their parents and learn how to function as adults. Today parents go off to work and children to school and sometime later they are pushed to determine the career they would like. This does not have to be about careers. Consider the faith. Have you taken someone under your wing to nurture them in the faith and teach them how to pursue God’s purposes in their lives? Did anyone do that for you? Paul took Timothy under his wing. He called him a “son” though they were not related. It is not too late. Take someone under your spiritual wing and teach them how to live out God’s purpose in their life as they watch you do so in yours.
