They Don't Go Away

The Lord said to me, “Chisel out two stone tablets like the first ones and come up to me on the mountain. Also make a wooden ark. I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke. Then you are to put them in the ark.” Deuteronomy 10:1-2

They won’t go away. Moses broke the first writing of the 10 Commandments, throwing them down when he saw the people worshipping an image of a calf they had made from gold. That did not make them go away – God etched them once again on stone. It doesn’t matter what we have done over the ages, those Commandments still stand. People have tried ignoring them, editing them and defying them. We still must answer to God for our attitudes and actions. And being guilty of breaking them ourselves we have only one hope – Jesus. The only one to ever keep the Commandments perfectly traded places with us. He took our punishment and gave us his holiness. Whew!!!
