To See Jesus Is To See God

Watch yourselves very carefully, so that you do not become corrupt and make for yourselves an idol, an image of any shape, whether formed like a man or a woman. Deuteronomy 4:16

Moses had said God never allowed the people to see him so they should never try to make some image of him as all other religions would make images of their gods. Others made their gods to look like bulls, bugs, eagles or former kings. God did not want them to worship the image and lose sight of him. Later God did reveal himself – in Jesus. In him the world saw God. I guess we still have to be careful. I have pictures of Jesus, but I don’t worship those pictures. We have seen God, but there is still no picture/statue that does justice to represent who Jesus is. He is still beyond understanding. Yet, in his becoming human I can know God understands me and loves me. May that thought forever bring me to my knees in worship.
