When Leaders Follow

Wanting to satisfy the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas to them. He had Jesus flogged, and handed him over to be crucified. Mark 15:15

When leaders follow, they fail. I know. I have made too many decisions trying to please people rather than seeking to do the right thing. Pilate was too frightened to lead that day so he followed. He was foolish. Think of the times when you needed to make a tough decision, but you chose rather to do what was easiest. Thank God this week is not about our failure – but Jesus’ leadership. Pilate was not the one with highest authority that day. That was Jesus. He chose to sacrifice his life on the cross, because that is what his people (we) needed. Jesus showed himself to be king by his actions. So for all of us who are in leadership positions—all we need to do is follow Jesus. I pray I will act today to satisfy him. It is okay to follow when Jesus is the one you seek to satisfy.
