Acts 12:1-13:43, Proverbs 19
He (Herod) had James, the brother of John, put to death with the sword. When he saw that this met with approval among the Jews, he proceeded to seize Peter also. Acts 12:2-3
I marvel at the power and the love of God. James is arrested and killed by Herod; Peter is arrested and miraculously released from prison. We marvel at Peter’s miraculous rescue and yet James was blessed to enter heaven’s gates. Herod later died, but his death is only viewed as punishment (eaten by worms). The lesson is not about life or death but about living in the promises of God. James and Peter both won. That victory God gives you in Jesus. Live in that truth. Praise God for that victory!
