A Better Promised Land -- Heaven

The Lord told Moses, “Go up into the Abarim Range to Mount Nebo in Moab, across from Jericho, and view Canaan, the land I am giving the Israelites as their own possession. There on the mountain that you have climbed you will die and be gathered to your people. Deuteronomy 32:49-50

For 40 years Moses had led the people as they headed to the Promised Land. Now God calls for him to climb Mt. Nebo where he will be able to see the land – then die there on the mountain. Moses had just sung the song, a hymn of praise to God. Is this defeat? No, it is just life. Moses had made mistakes along the way for which God said he would not be able to enter the land. At the same time Moses was headed to a far better place. Our success is not determined by how far we make it in this world. Our success lies in the life God gives us (a life we do not deserve) that we cannot fully experience until we stop breathing. Heaven truly is our Promised Land, given us through the blood Jesus shed on the cross. See you there, Moses.
