Bigger Than My Understanding

He (Jesus) returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. “Simon,” he said to Peter, “are you asleep? Mark 14:37

In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus had the weight of the whole world on his shoulders knowing what he needed to do the next day. He invited three of his disciples to join him in that moment, but it was too much. They could not grasp the significance of the moment. He woke them up a couple of times but that didn’t work. God’s responsibilities are still too great for us to grasp. This COVID-19 thing – I don’t know how God plans to shape the world by it. If we cannot understand, then let’s follow Jesus’ lead. Just do what he asks in the moment, which requires that we listen intently to him. Take time today to listen to his voice. Open your Bible. Pray. Trust God that he has a plan and follow his lead. Along the way we will “doze off” as the disciples did—just wake up and try again.
