Bragging on Jesus

Luke 18-19, Psalms 43-44

Peter said to him, “We have left all we had to follow you!”

“Truly I tell you,” Jesus said to them, “no one who has left home or wife or brothers or sisters or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God will fail to receive many times as much in this age, and in the age to come eternal life.” Luke 18:28-30

When one man chose not to give up things in his life to follow Jesus, Peter let it be known that he had. Jesus’ response was not about how much we give up (“left home or wife . . .). They all missed the point – and so do I so often. The focus of my faith is not what I do/don’t do. When you and I get faith right, all we think of is all God has done. He has blessed me beyond measure. I could give up everything I own and it would come close to the wonder of all God has done for me. I am BLESSED!
