Daniel 3-4, Matthew 21:28-e
Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and exalt and glorify the King of heaven, because everything he does is right and all his ways are just. And those who walk in pride he is able to humble. Daniel 4:37
Nebuchadnezzar had seen the power of God in the rescue of S,M & A from the fiery furnace. Daniel had interpreted his dream warning of his living like an animal. And yet, pride led him to ignore what God had said. How often do we find God’s Word to be inconvenient – easy to ignore? And I certainly have not seen people go down for doing their own thing, so maybe it doesn’t matter anymore. It matters! God’s Word is always true. Nebuchadnezzar found that out. Interestingly enough, after seven years of insanity God restored him and he praised God. The good news is that God does not find joy in causing turmoil in our lives. He only uses such things to bring us back to him. Learn from Nebuchadnezzar—skip the insanity part and go right to the humble praise of God.
