Fickle and Faithful

Zechariah 10-14, Matthew 27:11-26

All the people answered, “His blood is on us and on our children!” Matthew 27:25

People often comment on how harsh God was in the Old Testament, but his actions against people were just and purposeful. When the people cried out for Barabbas to be released and Jesus to be crucified there was no explanation. For many it was probably a matter of mob mentality. How foolish for the to accept blame for the death of Jesus. To bring their children into it was even more foolish.

Yet Jesus takes our foolishness and makes it beautiful. The blood of Jesus is on you and me – not to condemn, but to wash us clean. Everything God does is to help us. May you find comfort and strength in that truth.
