Friends in Christ

Welcome him in the Lord. Philippians 2:29

Paul was speaking of the Philippian church welcoming Epaphroditus, but he could have been referring to you or me. There are two kinds of people God brings into my life—brothers/sisters in Christ and those in whose hearts he is working so they become a brother or sister in Christ. Either one is a privilege for me to welcome. My mother-in-law was a great model for this. No one was a stranger to her. They were either a good friend or someone who was about to become her good friend. Last Sunday I was accused of ignoring someone and they were offended. When made aware of the situation I realized I had become caught up in my busy-ness and not engaged with her beyond, “Hi!” I didn’t even know her name. I had the opportunity to honor one of God’s children and meet a new friend. I hope I will see her again this Sunday to change that. Who might you meet today “in the Lord”?
