Good Intentions

They took Jesus to the high priest, and all the chief priests, the elders and the teachers of the law came together. Peter followed him at a distance. Mark 14:53-54

Good intentions – Peter was great at those. I know because I am a man of great intentions. Even after fleeing in the garden, Peter was determined to make it up to Jesus. He ended up denying that he even knew Jesus. He was foolish to rely on his own strength to do the right thing. It never works. I know that well from my own life. Should I give up? No! I am learning to lean on Jesus’ grace instead of my own good intentions. I am working to respond to his love rather than prove myself to be worthy. I still mess up a lot, but that just drives me into Jesus’ arms more. I have a long way to go, but I see improvement. I am coming to appreciate Jesus more and more. And the more I treasure his grace, the more I find him changing me. Jesus is amazing – don’t you think so? He must be to still love people like us! What do you think?
