Humbled Again

I fell prostrate before the Lord for forty days and forty nights; I ate no bread and drank no water, because of all the sin you had committed, doing what was evil in the Lord’s sight and so arousing his anger. Deuteronomy 9:18

I think I am doing good to keep my mouth shut when someone does something dumb or in bad taste. Moses displayed his leadership when he knelt before God for 40 days, not eating or drinking – all to plead for mercy for his people. Whenever I think I know what it is to lead, I am brought to my knees to see someone really lead. And as passionate as Moses was for his people, Jesus is more. Jesus went all the way to hell pleading. Father, teach me to love people in that way—that I will never give up fighting for them. Thank you for all those who have defended me in my lifetime.
