The high priest asked him, “Are you the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One?” “I am,” said Jesus. Mark 14:61-62
It must have been chaos as the Sanhedrin searched for some charge against Jesus that would stick. They had people lie, but the lies never matched up. They asked Jesus leading questions, but he would not even respond to them. He could not remain silent when they asked him if he was the Messiah. Jesus embraced his identity. He is the one who has come into the world to save us from our sin. He is the one who has given us a new identity. We are the children of God. We have forgiveness, and in that, we are holy. Don’t forget who you are. You are one for whom Jesus still fights today. It is from this identity that God has given us what it takes to make a difference. It is as God’s people that we bring love to the world. Live out who He has made you to be.
