Kingly Qualities

It is to be with him, and he is to read it all the days of his life so that he may learn to revere the Lord his God and follow carefully all the words of this law and these decrees and not consider himself better than his fellow Israelites and turn from the law to the right or to the left. Deuteronomy 17:19-20

God speaks of the king here that the people would eventually ask for, but it could be any leader. George Washington is said to have prayed and read his Bible from 5:00 to 6:00 every morning and to go back to that same spot to read some more every night at 9:00pm. There are three points God makes—to read the Bible, not consider himself better than those he leads and not to stray from what the Bible says. This is good for our leaders—it is good for all of us. We should not be surprised that this was the way Jesus operated (operates). No matter what kind of “king” that rules over you today—praise God that Jesus is our KING!
