Laws Given in Love

When you have crossed the Jordan into the land the Lord your God is giving you, set up some large stones and coat them with plaster. Write on them all the words of this law when you have crossed over to enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, a land flowing with milk and honey, just as the Lord, the God of your ancestors, promised you. Deuteronomy 27:2-3

It is getting really close to the time when the people will enter the Promised Land. They have been waiting 40 years for this moment. It is a rich land and is God’s gift to them. BUT they will need to remember the laws God has given them. Those laws (10 Commandments probably) were to be written on stones and set on Mt. Ebal for people to always see and remember. Without the order those laws provided they would fail as a nation. Don’t think those laws were to show God’s harsh nature; they showed his love. They still do. Review the 10 Commandments today. I hope you have them memorized. They are that important.
