Leave the Past Behind

Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead. Philippians 3:13

Yes, I have a long way to go to become the person God created me to be, but how am I to get there? Paul writes that we must forget the past. I cannot grow more like Jesus by dwelling on my past failures. All that does is make me hesitant to act or believe. Neither can I move forward by basking in my past successes. The whole point of becoming more like Jesus is to focus on others rather than myself. So let’s focus! Listen to Jesus’s voice today and follow where he leads. Let’s see where that takes us. It will be good!
