Loving God--The God who Saved Me

So if you faithfully obey the commands I am giving you today—to love the Lord your God and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul . . . Deuteronomy 11:13

I often skip God’s first command – to love him. Perhaps it is because I equate commands with work tasks or things I am forbidden to do. I don’t see love as a task, but it is the thing God wants most from me. He wants me to return his love. Adam and Eve messed up when they lost sight of God’s love and thus their own for God. I have read this chapter all week and this was the first time I saw this beautiful line and what it says about the God I worship. Let’s work on loving God today—can that be so hard?
