Model Citizens

Let us pass through your country. We will stay on the main road; we will not turn aside to the right or to the left. Sell us food to eat and water to drink for their price in silver. Only let us pass through on foot. Deuteronomy 2:27-28

There is a lot of poor behavior in the world, but it should not come from Christians. God has always called for his people to be model citizens – trusting him to provide for all our needs. In Deuteronomy chapter two he states that there will be a battle with Heshbon and the Israelites will win. Then he tells Moses to ask for safe travel through the land. The fighting would not be initiated by God’s people. They would seek peace even as they were prepared to do battle. I think there is much to learn from this. Seek peace today, but if you should have to do battle—God will provide.
