To Be With Jesus--Heaven

I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:14

I am tempted to think of “heaven” as my goal; the prize I get after I die because I believe in Jesus. I believe Paul writes of something we seek to experience in this life. I believe he is pointing to the joy of being with Jesus and seeing things as Jesus sees them. So I push on to experience life intimately with Jesus. For that I don’t need to be good. For that I will surrender my life to share in his. The more I taste that life – the more I hunger for it.

Dear Jesus, shape my heart to yours. AMEN.
