What a Relief!

I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith. Philippians 3:8-9

St. Paul and Martin Luther shared something – they had both tried to be Christian by obeying all the rules. With that approach they always had to wonder if they had been good enough. They had to worry every time they had a bad thought or spoke improperly if that meant failure. They both rejoiced when they realized God wanted to give “righteousness” to them in Jesus. He wanted them to be free. May you know the joy today to be “found in” Jesus Christ. Stop trying to earn God’s love—just enjoy it!
